Andrew and his brother Peter were fishermen by trade until Jesus visited them on the docks. “Follow me,” Jesus said to them, “And I will make you fishers of men.” An early disciple of St. John the Baptist, Andrew was prepared to follow Jesus. He did so for years as one of the twelve apostles and continued to preach following the death and resurrection of Jesus. For preaching Christianity throughout Greece, Andrew was tied to an X-shaped cross and left to die. He preached for two days until his final breath.
