In the early 3rd century, Christians in North Africa were suffering terrible persecution. Two young Christian mothers, Felicity and Perpetua, were imprisoned together. Perpetua was nursing an infant and Felicity was eight months pregnant. Both of them remained steadfast and prayerful despite their sufferings. After Felicity had given birth to a baby girl, the women were thrown into the arena to face a wild cow, and then beheaded.
